Few people have the federal budget and regulatory experience of Don Crabill.  He has served in the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under seven U.S. Presidents.

Don’s experience includes 17 years as OMB’s Deputy Associate Director of Natural Resources. In this role, he was intimately involved with budget, legislation, and regulation for the Interior and Agriculture Departments, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Council on Environmental Quality, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the civil functions of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Western power marketing agencies, and the Panama Canal.

Don was deeply involved in drafting major environmental legislation and in the development of the implementing regulations.  He also had substantive roles in writing several farm bills,  water resources development acts, The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, the authorization of the Trans-Alaska pipeline, and the Alaska Lands Act

Don also did the regulatory analysis of proposed water resource development projects and issues posed by proposed offshore oil leases.

Other Experience

  • Deputy Chief of the Economics, Science and Technology Division of OMB, handling budgets, legislation, and regulations of the Transportation and Commerce Departments, the civilian science agencies and the economic regulatory commissions.
  • Served four years as an officer in the US Navy aboard destroyers in the Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean fleets
