A U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Nick is an expert in federal environmental and water policies as well as the Coast Guard’s Bridge Administration Program.

For more than 25 years, Nick served as the U.S. Coast Guard’s Chief, Office of Bridge Administration.  In this position, he was responsible for overseeing Coast Guard policies involving bridge permitting, bridge alterations per the Truman-Hobbs Act, and environmental protection issues.  Nick also had responsibility for drawbridge operating regulations; civil/criminal issues relating to bridges; and for ensuring that Bridge Program Actions were consistent with the needs of marine, land and air transportation systems, and national security.

Nick’s position also involved logistical issues involving federal bridges.  These include ensuring that bridge projects and the operating schedules of movable bridges remained consistent with national security requirements, federal transportation policies, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Nick has also represented the U.S. Coast Guard in meetings with Canadian and Mexican officials involving bridges connecting those two countries.
